“Black Revolution” a festival of African-American cinema is being presented at L’Ecran  in the Paris suburb of St. Denis. The nine day event runs from 4-10 February and features work from the 1920s thru today.

Inspired by the election of Barak Obama in the U.S., festival organisers created a program centered around the fight for desegreation and the black liberation struggles of the 1960s and 1970s. They hope the event will encourage debate about marginalization and alternative ways of struggling for equality–topics that are sure to touch a raw nerve in this massive suburb that seen more than enough violence over the past several years.
